Agrotourism in Rural Coclecito: Participation in a Reforestation mission at a Historical Village

Participate in a community action in the historical region of Coclecito, amid the picturesque mountains and rainforest surrounding this village located at 2.5 hours distance from the Resort. There, was the country home of one famous Panamanian military, General Omar Torrijos Herrera who retired there to organize the negotiations leading to the Torrijos-Carter Treaty which reverted to Panama the full ownership of the Panama Canal. The country home had been visited by leaders, dignitaries, and writers from all over the modern world to discuss this national issue of international consequences. We will visit the local church, famous for the historic painting decorating the wall behind the Altar.

Then, at the Ecological Alternative Farm we will walk in the agro thematic park and will be introduced to an organic fertilizer production technique. At the Alternative Farm, we will be escorted by people from the area and representatives of the Gnobe Bugle indigenous community, one of the most important ethnic group of the country. Our visit to the Ecological Alternative Farm will be our opportunity to become a Solidary Volunteer by participating to a reforestation activity during which we will transplant fruit trees in an action dedicated to the reforesting of the Danoso forest. The environmental gain implies more oxygen for the planet and more food supply for the wildlife. Your dedication will be recognised with a personal diploma issued and certified by Fundacion Alternativa, the NGO leading the project.
