At this point we go back in history to the first settlements in the region, some 500 years ago, where today we can appreciate the activities of shellfish harvesting and reforestation in this important ecosystem. The local economy is based on fishing, the principal economic activity of the native villagers, and they have placed all their experience and knowledge at the tourist's disposition.
Mompiche belongs to the canton of Muisne, which means “abundance,” in honor of the generous catches of fish offered by the open waters of the Pacific, the intense currents in the tidelands and the tranquil waters of the mangrove swamps.

To ride in Mompiche is to surround yourself with the beauty of its beaches and its palm trees which enclose an ideal tropical landscape. Mompiche belongs to the coastal fringe which corresponds to the zone of tropical rain forest.
The areas made up of plant cover characterized in their majority by mangroves with sandy soil covered with mangrove crabs are widely known. Around these it is possible to observe some diminished spaces of forest characterized by arboreal species such as the tangaré, sande and caimito, of timber-yielding use: some platanillos and a great variety of vines.

The name of the Mache Chindul Ecological Reserve comes from the small mountain ranges on which it is located, the last obstacle before reaching the Pacific Ocean from the continent’s interior. It has 119,172 hectares which protect remnants of humid and dry tropical forests at elevations from 200 to 800 meters above sea level at the tops of the mountains.
The reserve contains one of the last remnants of very humid tropical rainforests of the Ecuadorian Coast and perhaps in the world, characterized by their extremely high biodiversity and surprising levels of endemic species. In this region more than 30 hydrographic basins are born, and the typical flora of this zone are the trees of the canopy belonging to different families. A great variety of birdlife, reptiles, mammals and amphibians are found.
Among its principal attractions are the waterfalls which run from small springs to monumental waterfalls, offering visitors an exciting experience of direct contact with nature in its purest state.

From the beginning of the 1600’s there is evidence of Cocoa bean cultivation in Ecuador, which expanded to the Banks of the Guayas River and its tributaries, the Daule and the Babahoyo, upriver, and gave rise to the name “Cacao Arriba” or the national variety. Visit to the Tsachila Community
The Tsachilas are an ethnic group distributed in communities located around Santo Domingo de Los Tsáchilas, in western Ecuador. They are known as “colorados,” due to their custom of painting their body and hair red with annatto.
When you visit the community, you can live a cultural interchange, getting to know elements of their identity; such as, their language, their food, artistic expressions and traditional medicinal practices, recognized for their healing powers.

Manabi Agricultural & Archeological

IThe waters of the Pacific Ocean hold enchantments and places which can only be experienced by being immersed in them. Experience diving trips with two tanks, starting with two dives with a duration of approximately 40 minutes each.
The activity takes place between the beaches of Mompiche and Atacames. In these dives you can observe a variety of sponges, sea urchins, anemones, corals, mollusks, octopus, starfish, sea cucumbers, and fishes such as the sergeant major, drum fish, damsel fish, grouper, dogfish, roncador grunt, butterfly and spotted grouper.
And for those who want to start out as beginners in this fantastic activity, we offer mini diving courses under the supervision of an instructor in Open Waters.

Esmeraldas is the ideal place for surf lovers, and the beach at Mompiche is world renowned as one of the best sites to practice this sport.
Mompiche possesses the second longest wave on this side of the Pacific Ocean, almost a kilometer in length, which makes it an obligatory destination as much for the national surfer as for the international.

One of the most impressive spectacles nature gives us happens from July to September in the coastal waters of the Ecuadorian Pacific: whale watching.
The humpback whales migrate about 7000 kilometers every year from the waters of the Antarctic at the South Pole to the Ecuadorian coast to breed, give birth to their young and seek survival options for their species in warmer waters.

A comprehensive city tour includes visits to residential neighbourhoods at the northern end of the city, visiting the " Guapulo Mirador", passing through the 12 of October Avenue up to the Culture House and the Legislative Palace (Congress) where the rock murals that are related to the history of Ecuador can be appreciated.
The tour will then continue through the Gran Colombia Avenue up to the Basilica Church. Walking through the colonial streets we will then stop at the Independence Plaza admiring the Cathedral, the Government's Palace, and the archiepiscopal palace.
Furthermore, we will visit La Compañia Church where adornments and gold altars can be appreciated, a visit to the Sagrario Church and San Francisco which was built in the XVII century will be also done (entrance is not included). Then we will be heading to the "Panecillo Mirador" (entrance included) a beautiful place from where a sight of colonial and modern Quito will be taken.
We will continue at the northern part of the city heading up to the "Half of the World City" (entrance included) where the monument that divides the Northern Hemisphere from the Southern Hemisphere will be visited. Departure from Quito through the Panamericana North Highway. Brief stop at Calderon, a town where the famous "masapan" dolls are made, we will continue passing through Guayllabamba town with its typical fruit cherimoyer, we will stop at the highway that conduces to Cayambe to admire and take pictures of the beautiful landscape and snow caped mountains of the zone, crossing the equatorial line at Cayambe we will pass by Guachala (used to be the Half of the world monument), before we head up to Otavalo we will make a stop at Mira Lago to take pictures of the beautiful San Pablo Lake. The tour then continues to Otavalo here the Otavaleños (natives) set up a market in which a bartering manner of shopping is taken.

The Galápagos Islands form part of the territory of the Republic of Ecuador, and are located in the Pacific Ocean on the equator, approximately 960 Km. from the coast of the Ecuadorian mainland, between 1°20' N and 1°0' S latitude, and between 89° and 92° W longitude.
The archipelago is formed by 19 large islands and more than 200 small islands and rocks which make up approximately 8,010 Km² scattered in an area approximately 70,000 Km².
This archipelago is unique in the world in possessing a self-sufficient ecological system or "eco-region" with a high number of endemic species, which can still be preserved as an example of the state of the world's oceanic islands before the intervention of human beings.
